Fukushima brings its wares to Tokyo Station for a festival of flavor

Wrap up the year with the best food and drink straight from Fukushima Prefecture, at the Fukushima Bimi Street event taking place at Tokyo Station.

The event, organized by the Fukushima Federation of Societies of Commerce and Industry, brings together the region’s famous culinary specialties, such as Aizu no Kuro curry, which is seasoned with Aizu paulownia coal powder, and horse-meat jerky and sausages produced by Aizu Chikusan. You can try Aizu Yamashio rock salt from the western region of the prefecture, which is said to be so rich that it can be used instead of soy sauce, and sip some Karosan sake, brewed exclusively at the town of Shinchi in eastern Fukushima.

Famed hula dancers from Iwaki’s Hawaiian-style spa resort will also provide entertainment from 5 p.m. on Dec. 20., and a talk event on opening day will present Japan’s top bloggers discussing visits to the Aizu Wakamatsu and Koriyama regions in Fukushima.

Fukushima’s regional mascots, Yaetan and Kibitan, are also scheduled to appear at the event on each day.

Fukushima Bimi Street Tokyo Station takes place from Dec. 20 to Dec. 22 at Gransta inside Tokyo Station. Opening hours vary depending on the day. For more details, visit www.foodbrand.do-fukushima.or.jp.
