There's something to be said about watching a concert outside. The music fills the air and the feeling of summer becomes liberating. This weekend, people in Fukuoka are going to get a headstart on feeling that vibe.

Circle '13 is set to return for a second year on Saturday at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park's open-air theater. While there will be some J-pop featured at this event, the music is a solid break from the idol craze that seems to be in vogue with the young (and the old) these days.

For those who attended last year's event, expect to see some familiar faces in the lineup, such as Akiko Yano and Rekishi. Coming onto the stage for the first time at the show will be Hanaregumi and Shutoku Mukai from popular band Zazen Boys. Mukai will be headlining the event with an acoustic set as well as an electric one.

Also performing at the music festival will be popular acts Ego Wrappin' and the Gossip of Jaxx, Clammbon, Zainichi Funk and Haruomi Hosono.

Food stalls will also be available at Circle '13, as well as a section for campers who want to spend a day at the park.

Circle '13 takes place at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park on May 18 (12 noon start; ¥6,080). For more information visit www.circle.jpn.com.
