This exhibition features scale models of classic cars and motorcycles that have been built from scratch, a technique known as “scratch building.” Since no model kits are used, this technique involves thoroughly researching real vehicles, sourcing suitable materials and making all the parts. Creating and assembling the hundreds, sometimes thousands, of components of each car or motorcycle can take several months to over a year.
Works by five model makers are on display, including some based on famous high-end luxury cars and motorcycles such as the Bugatti T37A, Ferrari 250GTO, Honda S800, Brough Superior SS100 and Ducati 851.
The highlights of the show are the works by three professional modelers, which includes some by Gerald Wingrove, a British model engineer and the first modeler to be made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for craftsmanship; till Feb. 23.
