Sponsored by the Daimler Foundation Japan, Art Scope is an initiative to help support and promote young artists in Japan through cultural exchange programs in Europe.

In 2003, Art Scope partnered with the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, and for its recent programs it offered the opportunity for artists in Germany and Japan to experience life and create works in each others' countries.

For this show, four artists — Meiro Koizumi and Hiroe Saeki from Japan, and Jan Scharrelmann and Eva Berendes from Germany — are exhibiting works inspired by their overseas experiences. Of particular note are the video works of Koizumi and Scharrelmann's installation works titled "Happy Hole I" and "Black Hole I."
