The Nihon TV series “Dare mo Shiranai Nakeru Uta” (“Songs That Make You Cry and Which Nobody Knows”) (Tuesday, 9:30 p.m.) is hosted by actor Toshiyuki Nishida and comedian Shinya Ueda, who listen to obscure songs suggested by viewers.
Occasionally, the creator of a song shows up to sing it in the studio. This week’s guest is the godfather of Okinawan rock, Shokichi Kina, who performs his 1995 composition “Shojo no Namida ni Niji ga Kakaru Made” (“Til the Rainbow Appears in the Girl’s Tears”). Kina talks with Nishida and Ueda about how he came to write the song, which was inspired by two notorious rape incidents that occurred on Okinawa in the 1990s.
Kiina Haruse (Miho Kanda) is a crack detective for an elite crime unit that specializes in cases considered “impossible to solve.” Her skills are put to the test every week on the new drama series, “Kiina: Fuka no Hanzai Sosakan” (“Kiina: Impossible Crimes Investigator”) (“Nihon TV, Wednesday, 10 p.m.)
In the first episode, Kiina’s peculiar talents are demonstrated when she is summoned to the top of a mountain to explain why a woman’s corpse was found in the midst of thousands of fish.
Kiina’s new partner is career crime-fighter Takeru, and together they also look into a murder that a woman claims she foresaw in a dream.
T he only regular character on the new drama series “Reset” (Nihon TV, Thursday, 11:58 p.m.) is Anri, a sort of angel who has the power to “reset” a person’s life to a specific point in the past.
The second regular installment of the program is about Satsuki (Shina Hara), who is molested on the train she takes to work. She catches the perpetrator and takes him to the police. He turns out to be Igarashi, the son of the president of the company she works for. Satsuki decides to press charges and Igarashi tries to get her to drop the case by offering her a settlement, which she rejects. Suddenly, she is bullied at work, and the harassment extends to her family. Eventually, the harrassment becomes too much and she drops the case.
At this moment Anri appears before Satsuki and offers her a chance to reset her life. She decides to go back to the day she was molested.
