Stuck for something to do on the national holiday this Friday — and enjoy a bit of a boogie? If so, then you may like to head to Yoyogi Park and the Tokyo Dance Music Festival 2007 being staged there at the live space between Yoyogi Park and the NHK building.

The event features top Japanese DJs, with a DJ set by Eye of the Vooredoms headlining the event. Other entertainment comes from the likes of house maestro and online music magazine Cyberjapan ( www.cyberjapan.tv ) head honcho Mitomi Tokoto, drum 'n' bass act DK Aki and progressive house duo Tech Riders. Conspicuously absent from the bill, however, are some of Tokyo's more popular foreign DJs who usually pop up on bills like this, such as Mike McKenna, Will2live and Carlos Gibbs.

There will be no charge, and as well as two stages — one hosted by superclub Womb and the other set up on the large, permanent outdoor event space that was used throughout the summer for entertainment at events such as the Thai festival and the Brazil festival — there will be food stands and a small market to occupy the wallflowers.

The permanent event space closes at 6 p.m., but Womb's stage will then go on until 10 p.m., after which those who are not yet tired of dancing can go to one of the countless clubs involved in the event. The hottest parties include The Room's Tokyo Crossover/Jazz Festival 2007 After Party in Shibuya, which features DJ Shuya Okino of The Kyoto Jazz Massive, and Club Yellow's A Story of Soundsystem, where DJ Milo, formerly of The Wild Bunch, will play.
