Harry Potter. The whole series is really great, but I'm a big fan of "Prisoner of Azkaban." I have a lot of friends who like it so it's interesting to sit down and talk about it.

Two books, "White out" by Rosemary Neill and "White nation," about Australian nationalism and aboriginals. Japan is becoming multicultural like Australia but not acknowledging Ainu and Zainichi.

"Catch 22" by Joseph Keller. It's got a different sense of humor. It's the sort of book that shouldn't have been turned into a movie because it's the way it's written that is great.

"Wild Swans," by Jung Chang. My mum's been telling me to read it for the last 10 years and I finished it this morning. I think everyone has a copy. It's a little sad, but a great read.

"The Music of Chance" by Paul Auster. I really like this author. He writes about real life. In Japanese we say "time slip," which is like fantasy.

"Tokyo Underworld" by Robert Whiting. I read it shortly after I arrived in Tokyo. He gives you tremendous insight into Japanese culture, particularly pertaining to gaijin. The books are meticulously researched. It'll make a great movie.
