Olympic star Nagai returning to Grampus on loan

Kyodo

The general manager of J. League first-division side Nagoya Grampus revealed Saturday that Japan Olympic striker Kensuke Nagai is in the process of returning to the team from Belgian side Standard Liege.

Nagai moved to Standard in January on a full transfer and is currently under contract until the summer of 2017, but he has not been playing. The paperwork on a loan move through June 2014 is now being completed and Nagai could take the pitch with Grampus as early as Aug. 17, when the Nagoya club is at Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

“It does nothing for Japanese soccer when a player that talented does not play,” Grampus general manager Kazumasa Kume said. “He himself has said he wants to be given a chance.”

Nagai joined Grampus out of university and has scored 13 goals in 57 J1 games.
