Meaningless without figures

Cheltenham, England

The Oct. 24 article “Japanese government radiation monitoring posts not showing reality: Greenpeace” states, “One monitoring post in a park showed less than one-twelfth the radiation levels seen in nearby areas in the same park.”

I would be grateful if you could supply the radiation level figures claimed by the government and by Greenpeace. Without this information the story is meaningless; it is not possible for a reader to judge if the radiation is at a level harmful to health.

The reporter seems happy to accept without question statements made by Greenpeace. I am afraid this article represents very poor cut-and-paste journalism.

The opinions expressed in this letter to the editor are the writer’s own and do not necessarily reflect the policies of The Japan Times.
