Regarding the Dec. 23 front-page article "Abe pauses on Senkakus postings" (concerning Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's decision not to station officials on the Senkaku Islands to avoid jeopardizing ties with China): Once again we see the lies by politicians, and once again we see the stupidity of the Japanese public in believing them.
I moved here from Australia because I was tired of the nonstop lies and moneymaking scams of Australian politicians. They have increased taxes every few months, brought in new taxes, cut spending on roads, police and hospitals — claiming there was no money — and then given themselves fat pay raises. The Australian public is paying much higher fees for power, gas and water than they did when I left the country in 2003.
How stupid I was to believe that Japanese politicians have "honor" and would keep their word. Once again we see the lies that these so-called leaders spin for the public to get in power. Afterward, they do back flips on everything they have promised.
It is time that the Japanese public started voting in younger new blood who have the honor to do what they say they'll do.
