While I support the feelings expressed in Gwynne Dyer's Aug. 30 article, "Going to the moon still matters" — about Neil Armstrong and the quest that Americans should make to go to the Moon and beyond — Dyer needs to check his facts.
Dyer wrote that three American astronauts who had walked on the moon — Neil Armstrong, Jim Lovell and Gene Cernan — published an open letter to President Barack Obama, criticizing America's new space policy.
No problem there, except that Lovell never walked on the moon. (Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon, and Cernan was the last so far.)
