A lecture and concert related to Zimbabwe will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Nagoya on Saturday.
The lecture, to be conducted in English, covers the culture and social problems of the country. Zimbabwean sweets will be served during the concert. Participation costs ¥1,500.

Nishinomiya to hold soybean, 'yukata' classes
Nishinomiya City International Association in Hyogo Prefecture will offer two classes for foreign residents, one on July 7 that will show how to cook soybean curd dishes to celebrate the star festival and the other July 14 on wearing "yukata" summer kimono.
The cooking class runs from 10:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Nishinomiya Chuo Kominkan, a five-minute walk from Nishinomiya Kitaguchi Station on the Hankyu Line. Admission costs ¥800 and participants need to make reservations between June 20 and July 3.
The yukata class will be held at 1 p.m. and then on the hour and half-hour through 3 p.m. at a charge of ¥500. The sessions will be held at the association, near Nishinomiya Station on the JR Kobe Line. Those interested will be able to make reservations from 9:45 a.m. on June 20 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Kyoto to hold massive Western, Chinese sale
Over 1.5 million Western, Chinese and Japanese items will be put on sale at Kyoto's 56th Antique Grand Fair from June 21 to 23.
The fair will open at 10 a.m. daily. It will close at 5 p.m. on June 21 and 22, and at 4 p.m. on the final day. There is no admission charge.
The venue is Kyoto Pulse Plaza, which can be accessed by a free shuttle bus from Takeda Station on the Karasuma subway line or the Kintetsu Kyoto Line.

Brown University academic to speak in Osaka
The Kansai Modern Japan Group will host a speech from a Brown University scholar next Thursday in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, titled "Social stratification and early academic socialization in Japan."
The speech, to be delivered in English by Yoko Yamamoto, an adjunct assistant professor at Brown University's Department of Education and a visiting academic at Osaka University, will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
Admission is free and advance registration is not necessary.

Lovers of Westerns can enjoy the 1949 classic "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" starring John Wayne in Nagoya from 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Admission costs ¥500. The movie will be screened at Minami Mini Theatre, a 15-minute walk from Kasadera Station on the JR Tokaido Line or from Horita Station on the Meijo subway line.
