Hasuikes tell police abduction details

Kyodo

Kaoru and Yukiko Hasuike, former abductees repatriated from North Korea, told police Saturday about how North Korean agents abducted them from Japan 26 years ago.

It was the first such meeting between the Hasuikes and Niigata Prefectural Police and Metropolitan Police Department officers as they had refused to describe their ordeal before their children were brought to Japan.

The meeting took place at the Hasuike home in Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture.

They were abducted July 31, 1978, from the Kashiwazaki coast. They married in North Korea in 1980 and had a daughter, now 22, and son, now 19, who now are also in Japan.
