Asia’s largest street performance competition will be held Nov. 1 to Nov. 4 in Shizuoka, with 123 performers from 15 countries participating, the chief producer said Friday in Tokyo.
The 11th Daidogei (Street Performance) World Cup in Shizuoka, organized with the help of more than 2,000 local volunteers, is expected to attract more than 1.5 million people, according to the organizers.
The event is probably the world’s only major event in which street performers from a variety of different categories compete, Chief Producer Masaaki Koga said.
Judges will be selected from the public and the winner will receive a trophy and 2 million yen.
Performances will be conducted in Sunpu Park and the streets of central Shizuoka. The event kicks off at noon Nov. 1 and ends 6 p.m. Nov. 4.
