Farm minister dismisses secretary

Farm chief Tadamori Oshima said Thursday that he has fired one of his secretaries whose alleged bribe-taking activities were reported in a weekly magazine.

The Shukan Bunshun, in its Thursday edition, reported that the secretary received 60 million yen in cash in exchange for influence peddling in a public works project.

Oshima became minister of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in last month’s Cabinet reshuffle.
