Yokohama couple missing in Bali

A couple from Yokohama has been reported missing here, raising fears they may have died in the bomb blasts on Bali over the weekend, Japanese diplomatic sources on the Indonesian resort island said Wednesday.

No one has heard from Kosuke Suzuki, 34, or his wife, Yuka, 33 since Saturday night, when the attack outside the Sari Club at Kuta Beach killed more than 180 people and injured hundreds of others.

Relatives of the couple are in Bali, trying to track them down.

The Suzukis were staying at a hotel in Kuta as part of a package tour organized by Tokyo-based travel agency Jalpak Co. They arrived in Denpasar on Friday on a Japan Airlines plane from Narita airport, Jalpak said.

Hotel records show the couple went out on Saturday night and did not return.

Kosuke was scheduled to return home Monday night but failed to show up at the assembly point, according to Jalpak. Yuka was scheduled to return home Wednesday.

Thus far, 10 Japanese have been confirmed injured by the blast, two seriously. The two — 30-year-old Ayano Saito and her younger sister, 28-year-old Kaho — were flown to a hospital in Singapore on Monday.
