Man nabbed over girlfriend’s death

Kyodo

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of killing his Japanese girlfriend, who was found dead last month at his house in San Diego, police said Tuesday.

The San Diego Police Department identified the dead woman as Fumiko Shironoshita, 27, an exchange student from Kyoto Prefecture, and the arrested man as Juan Silva, 26. Silva has denied the allegation, police said.

According to police, Silva stabbed and strangled Shironoshita on Sept. 22 after she suggested they break up. Silva later tried to kill himself but failed, the police said, adding the two were in a relationship for about a year.
