MANILA – Philippine immigration authorities have arrested a Japanese man wanted by Japanese police for alElegedly stealing a vehicle and goods, officials said Monday.
Yoshinobu Deguchi, 34, was arrested last Friday in his house in northern Manila, they said. He has been wanted by Japanese police for allegedly stealing a vehicle and goods worth E.15 million in Chiba Prefecture in April 2001.
Deguchi is believed to have fled to Manila last October to evade arrest and prosecution.
Also arrested with Deguchi was Michio Okano, 60, who is suspected of overstaying his visa.
The two men will be handed over to Japanese police, who will arrive at the Philippines within the week.
